Turbonegro er en av artistene som innlemmes i årets Rockheim Hall of Fame. Dagen etter den utsolgte konserten på Havet i Trondheim, kommer Thomas Seltzer, Rune Grønn og Knut Schreiner fra Turbonegro til Rockheim Scene og gjester vår podkast «Bak Låta» live. Vår mann Sigmund Vegge vil gjennom samtale med artistene, dykke ned i låten «The Age Of Pamparius» fra det klassiske albumet «Apocalypse Dudes» og via den bli kjent med låtskriverne, musikerne og bandet Turbonegro.
I Rockheims podcast BAK LÅTA bruker vi en av artistenes låter til å bli kjent med artisten. Hvor mye av artistens personlighet, bakgrunn og verdier ligger i låta? Og hvordan kommer det ut som musikk? Med oppsiktsvekkende image, provokativ humor og fengende låter er Turbonegro et fenomen i internasjonal rock. Gruppa ble dannet på slutten av 1980-tallet og fikk et gjennombrudd med Apocalypse Dudes i 1998. Bandet ble oppløst samme år, men anseelsen og populariteten fortsatte å vokse både i Norge og ute i verden. I 2002 kom de tilbake med et smell, mye større enn noen gang i tiåret før. Som liveband var de en sensasjon, og de ble også kjent for sin verdensomspennende fanskare: Turbojugend. Turbonegro har en unik posisjon i norsk populærmusikkhistorie, også som viktig inspirasjonskilde for den skandinaviske rockebølgen og døråpner for norske rockeband med internasjonale ambisjoner.

Turbonegro is one of the artists being inducted into this year’s Rockheim Hall of Fame. The day after their sold-out concert at Havet in Trondheim, Thomas Seltzer, Rune Grønn, and Knut Schreiner from Turbonegro will come to Rockheim Scene as guests on our live podcast “Bak Låta.” In conversation with our host Sigmund Vegge, the artists will dive into the song “The Age of Pamparius” from the classic album Apocalypse Dudes, using it as a gateway to get to know the songwriters, musicians, and the band Turbonegro.
In Rockheim’s podcast Bak Låta (“Behind the Song”), we use one of the artist’s songs as a way to get to know them better. How much of the artist’s personality, background, and values are reflected in the song? And how does that manifest as music? Where did the journey that led to what we hear today begin? What has happened along the way? And what does it really mean to work creatively with music?
With their striking image, provocative humor, and catchy songs, Turbonegro is a phenomenon in international rock. The band was formed in the late 1980s and achieved their breakthrough with Apocalypse Dudes in 1998. The band broke up that same year, but their reputation and popularity continued to grow both in Norway and abroad. In 2002 they returned with a bang—bigger than ever before. As a live act they were a sensation, and they became known for their worldwide fanbase: Turbojugend. Turbonegro holds a unique place in Norwegian popular music history, both as an important source of inspiration for the Scandinavian rock wave and as a trailblazer for Norwegian rock bands with international ambitions.
